Connecting to BigQuery

When you begin a BigQuery import for the first time, you will need to go through a few steps to connect to your BigQuery Project to Coefficient.

  1. Open the Coefficient Sidebar and open the Menu (triple-stack).

  1. Select “Connected Sources” **from the list of options.

  1. Select “Add Connection” at the bottom and then select “BigQuery” **from the list.

  1. Enter your GCP Project ID. (Google Cloud Platform Project ID)

  2. You will need to confirm your Google Account and allow Coefficient access to pull the data. You will be taken back to Sheets to begin your import from BigQuery.

Import from BigQuery

BigQuery data can be imported to your sheets using the Import from tables or the Custom SQL query options. Import from tables allows you to select the table/fields needed for your import. While Custom SQL query gives you the flexibility to create your own query to pull the data in exactly the way you want it.

Import from Tables

  1. From the sidebar, click “Import from…”

  2. Select “BigQuery” from the list of data sources

  1. Select “Import from Tables”.

  1. The Data Preview window will appear and show all the table schemas from your BigQuery database. Select the table for your import.

  1. Once the table has been selected, the fields within that table will appear in a list on the left side of the Data Preview window. Select the fields you need for your import by checking or unchecking the corresponding boxes. Each field added will be a new column in the Data Preview window.
