Import Templates are a convenient way to create imports without having to start from scratch. When you start a new data import from the beginning, you typically choose the metrics, filters, and sorting options that fit your needs. An import template is a way to save all these selections so that you can easily use them again with just one click for your next import. 🤯
You can also share this with a new team member who might be new to Coefficient. They can readily utilize the import template you've designed as a starting point for their exploration and tasks. đź“š
Example: “All Opportunities” (Salesforce import)
Launch the Coefficient sidebar and locate the import you want to save as a template.
Hover over the name of import and click on the 3-vertical dots, then select “Save as Template..”
💡 Note: A template can also be created, from the Edit Import screen. Just click on the 3-vertical dots found in the top right corner and select “Save as Template..”
Click “Change icon” to designate an icon for the template. PRO TIP: The Name of the Template should be UNIQUE. A description is also recommended to help give context to the team.
💡 Note: The "Share with your team" option is enabled by default. If you do not wish to share the template with your team, toggle it off.
After you customize your template by adding fields, filters, sorts, etc., then select “Save as Template”.
A banner will confirm the changes and the import Template was saved to your library.
Your new Template will appear in the list.
You will also see additional templates (”Quick start templates”) that were created and shared by the Coefficient team. Feel free to check them out and use them as inspiration or starting points.
Example: “All Opportunities” (Salesforce import)
Launch Coefficient and click “Import from…”
Under “Import Templates”, click the “Show more” link.
Scroll down the list to locate the name of the import template you would like to use. Click the 3-vertical dots and hit “Edit”.
Customize your template by adding fields, filters, sorts, etc., then “Save” when done.
Confirmation that the template was updated will show on your screen as well as a link to “View saved templates”.
💡 Note: Only the owner/creator of the import template can edit/delete it. Any existing imports created using your template will not be affected by these actions. Once an import template is deleted - it cannot be undone.
